An Introduction to Our Healthy You! Program

Hi everyone!

We here at Magnolia Creek know that it can be challenging at times to take care of ourselves emotionally, physically, and spiritually for a variety of reasons.  Maybe we get busy at work, school, or home, and have a full plate leaving little time to take care of ourselves. Maybe we struggle with overwhelming depression, or maybe we just simply forget in the day-to-day business of our schedule. Whatever the reason, we know it is common to not take care of ourselves in the way we need and deserve.  The Magnolia Creek team needs constant reminders from each other to take care of ourselves, and we work in the mental health field!

Each week Magnolia Creek is going to provide you with some resources and reminders you can use to become a healthier, more balanced you, such as:

  • Descriptions of various activities or skills used to cope with our day-to-day stressors
  • Inspirational posts for encouragement
  • Sharing recovery stories
  • Providing education on how our bodies work and what they need to maintain overall health

Since each coping skill works differently for every individual, we will post a variety of skills, reminders, and educational tips. We don’t expect everything to be a good fit for you; that’s okay! We just ask that you try a few things and see what is most effective as you are pursuing a healthier you.

Some of you may be thinking, “But I really do have other things that must come first!” or “I get this is great in theory, but I don’t have time to add anything else to my schedule.” The great news is that many of these posts will include tips that won’t take much time, and some of them will be things you can integrate into your daily routine.

Not taking care of ourselves makes us much less efficient, productive, and functional, leaving us with the lack of ability to focus attention on our responsibilities.  Neglecting our self-care needs leads to irritability, lack of concentration, exhaustion, burnout, compassion fatigue, physical health complications, and exacerbated mental illness symptoms.    

Over the next few months, we are going to help each other with reminders and tips on ways to keep ourselves healthy. We’ll start with some practical examples of ways the Magnolia Creek team members take care of themselves and expand from there. We can’t wait to go on this journey with you in pursuit of a healthier you! See you again next Tuesday!
