Two of Magnolia Creek’s very own Steel Magnolias, Tammera Bullard, LPC, MFTA and Leslie Plaia, ALC, were found in Montgomery November 14-16 as they were sharpening counseling skills, visiting colleagues, presenting and attending content sessions, marketing, and learning new trends with respect to therapy and their clients served.
The Montgomery Renaissance Hotel was pleased to host the Alabama Counseling Association for their 2012 Convention. Among the Keynote Speakers for the convention were Brad Erford, Don Locke, and Joshua Burford. Leslie co-facilitated a presentation on November 15th: Dealing with Teens and Preteens in a Media Entrenched World. The session was a presentation and discussion on how to deal with issues such as mean girls, eating disorders, body image issues, and the sexualization of girls in a variety of settings. The session examined the role media plays in these issues and how therapists can deal with these situations and empower girls to look past what they see in the media.
Tammera was instrumental in making connections with local partners in order to further spread the mission of Magnolia Creek in the local region and throughout the state.
