Eating disorders are a family disease; as such, family involvement in the treatment process is a vital part of recovery for all members of the family. Additionally, research shows that rates of recovery are significantly higher for clients whose families participate in the treatment process. Magnolia Creek’s Family Workshop is a three-day, intensive process.
Among other things, the Family Workshop program provides eating disorder and mental health education, communication and boundary setting instruction, interactive groups, and family therapy sessions. Each night, family members and clients have “homework.” These assignments are designed to stimulate self-exploration, therapeutic discussion, and resolution. The Magnolia Creek team is excited and passionate about the Family Workshop, because we recognize it as a unique opportunity for all family members to grow and heal. We believe that embracing change is the essential component to creating new and healthy relationship patterns. Below is a list of helpful readings we provide families and clients who are in recovery.
