What to Expect
Prior to Admission
We are here to help. Making the decision to contact us is the first step to recovery.
Magnolia Creek’s admissions team will partner with you to complete a clinical and medical review of your current and past circumstances. To assist in accurately assessing our ability to help, we review the following common information:
- physician report
- recent lab work
- copies of TB and EKG results
Additionally, Magnolia Creek’s admission staff will walk your through a series of our own clinical questions and spend time answering yours. We are sensitive to importance of this decision, and committed to being thorough and supportive through this process.
Day of Admission
On the first day of admission, clients meet with members of our intake, dietary, medical, and clinical team. Our admissions team, as well as our clinicians are here to answer your questions, and assist with any additional admission assessments that need completing.
Treatment begins for all clients on observations, meaning during the hours of 6:45 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. clients are in sight of the staff members. Observations are modified based on each client’s treatment needs. Clients on therapeutic 24/7 observations are observed between the hours of 6:45 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. and every 15 minutes from 10:00 p.m. to 6:45 a.m. For medical 24/7 observations, clients are always observed.
Effective eating disorder programs need to utilize restroom observation protocols during intensive residential treatment level of care. The following list specify our restroom observation guidelines:
- For clients with primary mental health condition and no eating disorder concerns, we will have no observations requirements.
- Unless it is an emergency, clients do not use the restroom for at least one hour after meals and thirty minutes after snacks. Clients use the restroom with a staff escort.
- With their backs to the door, staff members remain outside the door while the restroom is in use. During programming hours, the client restroom is used.
- Staff members engage in conversation with clients for the entirety of their restroom use. (Clients sing, count, repeat the alphabet, etc.). The water faucet and fan are not in use to allow staff members to observe what is going on in the restroom always.
- Before flushing waste, staff members check the toilet.
- Clients request to use the restroom during a group session only when it is an emergency. In restroom-related emergency situations, a staff member escorts the client to the restroom. All clients who leave group to use the restroom follow restroom observation guidelines.
Things to Note
Magnolia Creek acknowledges our client as the most important member of the treatment team. Our holistic program addresses the client’s needs so they can fully recover, not simply manage their eating disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. As such, there are a few items to note before arriving at Magnolia Creek.
- At Magnolia Creek, our goal is to provide active, personal treatment. Therefore, in our residential program we do not allow clients to use personal televisions and DVD players so they may focus on their recovery. Clients in PHP may use these items during non-programming hours.
- Magnolia Creek does allow the electronic cigarettes and cigarette smoking in moderation. To assist in promoting healthy lifestyle alternatives for those clients wanting to quit smoking, we provide smoking cessation.
- The cost of prescription medications and lab work is not included in Magnolia Creek’s daily rate. Turenne Pharmaceuticals and Quest Diagnostics file claims with insurance companies directly. Clients are responsible for any remaining balances not paid by insurance.
- Family Workshop will be held the second Thursday and Friday of each month.
