Group Descriptions

Process 

Clients identify emotions related to their eating disorder symptoms such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, other specified/unspecified eating disorders, rumination disorder, pica, and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, and co-occurring mental health conditions.  Clients then practice communications skills, share assignments, and discuss recovery progress and relationship issues.

Meditation/Mindfulness

Through meditation, mindfulness and relaxation training, clients practice attentiveness, present-moment living, and body awareness.     

Body Appreciation

Clients identify distorted body-related thoughts and personal strengths.  Clients discuss issues of sexuality, media influences, and cultural and/or familial expectations.  

Creative Arts

Clients express emotions through creative mediums including, but not limited to theater, music, photography, and art.  

Boundaries and Relationships

Clients explore their patterns of relating and styles of communication.  Clients discuss healthy boundaries, transitioning ego states, common defense mechanisms, and cognitive distortions.

Trauma Education

Clients identify the effects of trauma, abandonment, neglect, and enmeshment. Clients identify effective grounding techniques and adaptive ways to cope with life stressors, present trauma-related assignments, and give empathic and non-judgmental feedback.   

Grief & Loss

Clients identify phases of the grief process and personal losses; clients identify shared emotions.

Recovery Processing

Clients set short and long term goals, process risks for relapse, and develop a recovery protection plan. 

12-Step Meetings

Clients integrate aspects of the 12-steps into their recovery from eating disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.  

Health and Wellness 

Clients learn infection control tactics, proper medication management techniques, and physical complications of eating disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions..   

Treatment Team

Each week members of the treatment team review client progress, clients review progress, develop goals, and evaluate effectiveness of interventions.
