Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work with a vegetarian diet?
Yes, we make allowances for vegetarians, but our program does not accommodate vegans. Magnolia Creek's dietitian works with each resident to explore her personal dietary needs, and distinguish between dietary preferences and eating disordered choices. Our goal is to help each resident create a healthy relationship with food, free from restrictions and rules.
What is a typical day at Magnolia Creek?
Mornings begin with daily vital signs and breakfast, followed by a morning walk or time for individual appointments. Residents participate in morning core group, followed by lunch, afternoon group, individual appointments, and free-time during which residents can complete assignments, read, work in the art room, visit or relax. Dinner is in the early evening, followed by group or scheduled activity, then free time and lights out by 11pm. Click here to view our weekly program schedule.
Will my family be able to participate?
Yes. At Magnolia Creek, we believe that families and significant others are a valuable part of the recovery experience. We respect the place family has in the life of our residents, and we recognize that family relationships can provide vital information for a better understanding and opportunity for recovery. Family weekends occur every six weeks, and a multifamily group meets weekly for local and visiting families.
What are the meals like at Magnolia Creek?
Meals are specifically designed to meet the individual nutritional needs of our residents. Our chef works with the dietitian closely to provide healthy wholesome meals that nourish the body and work to restore the residents' relationships with food. Meals are family-style and shared with staff to provide our residents support and guidance. We recognize that food is not only necessary for sustenance but also part of the greater social and cultural experience. We work to help the resident repair her relationship to food as well as the personal relationships in her life.
How often will I meet with my therapist?
Residents meet with their primary therapist two-to-three times a week depending on where they are in the program. Residents also meet individually with our Clinical Director, Medical Director, Director of Nursing, Dietitian and Psychiatrist on a weekly basis or as needed.
What should I bring?
We suggest bringing clothes that are comfortable. We have a washer and dryer so that residents are able to do laundry during their stay. We also take trips to the market and store if residents need to pick up an item or run out of something. Click here for a suggested list of items to bring.
Are the bathrooms locked?
No. Our treatment facility resembles real-life as closely as possible. Bathrooms are not locked so that residents can experience similar temptations and triggers to the home environment. In early stages of treatment, staff will stay with residents after meals to help them learn to tolerate normal feelings of fullness without purging.
Will I have a roommate?
Yes. Two women share a room and bathroom. The rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished.
How long will I stay?
There is a minimum required stay of thirty days. The average stay can range between two-to-four months, depending on individual circumstances.
Is the daily rate all inclusive?
The daily rate covers all therapy, physicians' fees, meals, lodging, and most outings. It does not, however, include lab work and pharmacy prescription fees. You (or your insurance) should be prepared to pay for these expenses.
