Magnolia Creek Featured on "Dr. Phil" During National Eating Disorders Awareness Week
Clinical director appears on national talk show to consult and raise awareness about eating disorders and treatment options.
BIRMINGHAM, AL (2/11/08) - Magnolia Creek Residential Treatment Center for Eating Disorders, located just outside Birmingham, Alabama, will be featured on an upcoming segment of the nationally-syndicated "Dr. Phil" talk show. The show is currently scheduled to air on Monday, February 25, 2008, which falls during National Eating Disorders Awareness Week running from February 24 to March 1.
The segment focuses on a young woman suffering from anorexia nervosa with severe bingeing and purging. The show invited Magnolia Creek's clinical director, Dr. Nicole Siegfried, to make an appearance and offer assistance to the young woman. Several other eating disorder professionals, as well as Jenni Schaefer, author of Life Without Ed, were also invited to share their expertise and experience. During the show, Dr. Phil discusses the benefits of Magnolia Creek's program and offers her treatment at the center to move toward recovery.
"It is admirable that Dr. Phil is using his considerable influence to draw attention to the severity of eating disorders, especially during National Eating Disorders Awareness Week," said Dr. Siegfried, who is herself a licensed clinical psychologist. "We hope to provide the help that this young woman needs, and we are so grateful that his show has given us the opportunity to increase awareness of treatment options for people struggling with eating disorders."
The Dr. Phil show is broadcast locally in Birmingham on CBS-42 at 3pm. Please note that times and airdates are subject to change.
