Leslie Plaia, M.Ed., LPC
Clinical Program Coordinator
Prior to joining the staff as the Clinical Program Coordinator, Leslie worked as a primary therapist at a local substance abuse treatment center. Leslie is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who holds a master's degree in community agency counseling from University of Montevallo and a bachelor's degree in theatre and English literature from Birmingham-Southern College. Leslie's clinical experience includes working with individuals impacted by substance use disorders, process addictions, eating disorders, trauma, and other mental health issues. Leslie previously served as a primary therapist at Magnolia Creek from 2012-2014.
Leslie is a member of the American Counseling Association as well as the Alabama Counseling Association. Therapeutic interests include eating disorders, substance use disorders, process addictions, trauma, women's issues, and media's influence on society. Leslie has participated in specialized training in motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy, and psychodrama.
Born in Knoxville and raised in Pittsburgh, Leslie has called the Magic City "home" for the last twelve years. She spends most of her time renovating her new/old house with her husband, reading, making crafts, and assisting in local theatre productions.
