Primary Therapist (part-time)
Magnolia Creek is seeking a part-time Primary Therapist for work three days a week: Monday and Thursday from 1:00 to 9:00 pm; and Sunday from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. A licensed professional is preferred, but all candidates will be considered.
Primary Therapists are responsible for the clinical management of our clients, assisting in identification of treatment/contract goals. S/he is the primary contact for any client concerns and is responsible for maintaining contact with the client’s referring/outpatient therapist during the course of the client’s stay and the family when/if appropriate.
Responsibilities include:
- Meeting with assigned clients two to three times weekly, to help explore identified issues and behaviors in relationship to current symptoms.
- Facilitate groups and attend meals and other activities in the milieu to better establish a relationship with clients that provides a more comprehensive understanding current behaviors and relational dynamics.
- Attend weekly team meetings and share observations, comments and important information about clients with the treatment team.
- Completing a weekly treatment plan that will be reported to the insurance company’s case manager and/or the referring therapist, as needed
- Reviewing client records and participate in clinical assessment and progress evaluation. During the assessment period, s/he will complete an initial treatment plan and provide any additional recommendations regarding client care on a weekly basis.
- Assist in meal/snack supervision as assigned and attend special occasion activities for the clients.
- Assist discharge planning and obtaining referral sources and necessary support systems once the client is discharged.
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters Degree; Alabama license or working toward license (MFT, LPC, LCSW, PhD)
- 1 year clinical experience with eating disorders preferred
Other Considerations
- Clinical knowledge of therapy and counseling.
- Knowledge of eating disorders, as well as the knowledge of therapeutic and medical interventions for treatment.
- Specialization in trauma counseling will be advantageous but not required.
- Participation in special occasion activities for the clients.
- Support the overall goals and mission of Magnolia Creek.
- Follow all client privacy and confidentiality requirements and regulations.
- Good communication skills.
